“Shooting the sea is like shooting a portrait. An unforgiving environment and a subject may be cruel or uncooperative. With patience and coaxing, one's guard is dropped and the soul of the subject is revealed.” - EJ Camp
EJ Camp is renown for her esteemed portraits of actors, musicians and other celebrities, shot for magazine covers, movie posters and advertising campaigns for clients including GQ, Glamour, Elle, Esquire, L’Uomo Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Men’s Health, New York, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, ABC, CBS, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Pictures, Showtime, Sony Pictures and Warner Brothers.
Camp has a complimentary fine art career as a landscape photographer. Camp's second home is the water. Her favorite subjects are the North and South Forks of Long Island, some of the most beautiful coastlines in North America, and here, over the last thirty years, she has photographed the sea and its shores. Camp captures and shares these waters and their coast lines as if there were no translation through time nor the lens.
EJ Camp was born in San Francisco and lives in New York City and Orient, New York. She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology before working for Albert Watson and Bruce Weber. Her work is included in the collections of Steven Mnuchin, and in various countries around the world.
